Allegedly, there has always been a noticeable trend where regional leaders go to great lengths to align themselves with the elites of the dominant power. Both Ottawa and London, in many respects, act as provincial capitals within the American empire. It's not surprising, then, that their leaders and cultural influencers often rush to adopt ideas that appear to be at the forefront in America. 

 

The unfortunate outcome for us is not that the US failed to reshape the world in its own image post-Cold War but succeeded within Great Britain. America's intense cultural conflicts, which permeate every aspect of life, have become the superpower's most influential cultural export. This has had detrimental effects on our politics, potentially irreparably. While Chinese culture and its associated political issues hold only limited appeal in Europe, any new fascination that captures the American imagination quickly spreads to us, infiltrating our political environment and weakening our political system.

 

As British writer Aris Roussinos says, leaders in Ottawa and London often try too hard to fit in with American elites. It's like ancient tribal chiefs wearing Roman clothes and speaking Latin to fit in with the Romans.

Britain must stand firm against American influence to preserve its own cultural, political, and social identity. The tendency of leaders in London to adopt American ideas and behaviours can undermine our unique values and traditions.

To protect our nation from the pervasive impact of America's cultural conflicts and political strategies, we need to prioritise our own values and policies. By fostering a sense of national pride and resilience, we can ensure that Britain's voice remains distinct and influential on the global stage.

 

The key to our future lies in a balanced approach that acknowledges the benefits of international collaboration while maintaining our sovereignty and cultural integrity.
